Lucy is an illustrator and artist based in Cilgerran, Pembrokeshire. Her work combines traditional materials such as gouache and ink with digital tools, creating textured, atmospheric work that encompasses animation, illustration, landscapes, and site-specific art.

Lucy’s practice is deeply personal and is informed by the ways in which internal emotional states, particularly sensitivity and vulnerability, are intimately interwoven with external phenomena: localities and landscapes; flora and fauna; structures and artefacts. Her work explores the connections between art, artistic practice, and place, while concurrently embodying the tensions inherent within notions of self and belonging.

As a Welsh artist, Lucy is deeply influenced by her country’s folktales and mythologies. Her exhibition Hounds of Folklore (2022) sought to retell and reimagine such narratives, and to invite reflection on what it means to be Welsh today. Lucy’s illustrations have been published in a book (Hiraeth: Stories from Welsh Patagonia), and she regularly exhibits her work in galleries across Wales. She was recently commissioned by the National Trust to create designs for the 2023 Christmas period at Newton House, Dinefwr, which included in-situ window designs and digital animation.

Lucy graduated with a Masters in Illustration from Falmouth University in 2023, passing with a distinction. Her practice is evolving with a deeper interest in the folklore of other nations and cultures, the migration of these stories and the evolution of their symbolism across time and place.
